National Opera
2015/16
by Novoflot in cooperation with Kretakör (Hungary) and kraut_produktion (Switzerland)
National Opera. A word like three exclamation marks! But what exactly does it denote? A building? A composition? A cultural heritage? At a time when European national sentiment is revealed or hidden in profoundly different ways, Novoflot asked about the nature of national cultural monuments from the field of musical theater and their significance for social sentiment and behavior. An unusual experiment, because for the first time Novoflot combined three productions (Freischütz/Bánk bán-ACT/Schweizerpsalm) by three ensembles (Novoflot/Kretakör/kraut_produktion) from three different European countries (Germany, Hungary, Switzerland) on one evening to a cycle of several hours playing time in the Radialsystem. The project was launched with an overture staged by Novoflot at the Karlshorst harness racing track, and concluded with a Long Night of National Opera at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz.
